There are several ways you may reach the Capital city of Romania:
First is by plane, and there are several flights from the US and Western Europe to Bucharest and Timisoara.
Romania can be reached in two hours from Europe as there are daily connections from Hungary, Germany, Austria and Italy to Bucharest and the main cities of Romania.

By car: travelling by car to Romania is not the fastest and the most comfortable way of travelling in Romania, as the highways are almost inexistent. You will need the following documents if you drive in Romania: vehicle’s registration, proof of insurance and a valid driving license.
Vignettes are mandatory, and the prices are as follows (for cars weighing less than 3.5 tonnes):
1 day: 4.80 EUR
7 days: 16.80 EUR
1 months: 60 EUR
6 months: 180 EUR
1 year: 240 EUR
Speed limits:
Motorway: 110 km/h
Open Road: 90 km/h
Town: 50 km/h
Travelling by bus:
There are many bus routes that connect Bucharest and Romania’s main cities with Athens, Berlin, Budapest, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Vienna.
Travelling by train
Romanian National Railways (SNCFR) runs trains from Bucharest to many European cities.
Travelling by train takes 6 hours from Budapest to Timisoara and about 46 hours from London to Bucharest. It is a comfortable but not a fast way of travelling.

By boat, as there are several German and Austrian cruise companies offer cruises on the Danube River to the Danube Delta and the Black Sea Coast. However, you’ll need to use the train or a rented car to reach Bucharest.
